What Do You Want? How Do You Get It?

What do you want? How do you get it? These are two extremely important questions for life goals and for accomplishing any undertaking. These questions can actually apply to simpler life activities. For example, when driving home from work, you may ask yourself what you want to make for your family to eat but then it may come down to what you want. Once you have established what you want, the next step is how to get it. Are you going to cook it, buy it, or maybe have another member of your household fix it? Whatever you have to do to make it happen, you do. And, before you know it, you and your family will be sitting down to the meal you thought of earlier. These two questions are relevant when it comes to bigger life activities.

When it comes to the major goals, the same two questions apply. What do you want to do...in college? What do you want to do...when you get out of college? What do you want to do...in your life work? What do you want to do...for fun? What do you want to do...after you retire? What do you want to do...What do you want to do...? It is an important question to think about without haste. It may take research, meditation, prayer, deep thought, intentional quiet time, counseling, or coaching. Once the answer has been established, the next question follows; how will you get it? Making the decision of what you want somehow will inspire you to start figuring out how to make it happen.

If for some reason, you have not yet asked yourself these two questions, it is time to ask them. If you have already asked yourself these questions, it may be time to revisit them given that time may have elapsed. Do you still want now, what you wanted five years ago? Has your desire changed? The point is that you can if you choose to, refresh your desire when it comes to your goals. You just may receive a fresh, new, and exciting direction that you probably did not have five or ten years ago. You may suddenly realize that your daily actions are simply not matching up to what you want.

Should you come to the realization that you are not getting any closer to what you desire, then it must be that you are to do things differently. What do you need to change? How do you need to adjust? The truth is you can accomplish whatever you want if you take the time to think of what you really desire. Once the decision is born, the actions you must take in some strange way follow. Before you know it, you will be walking into your desire, one action at a time.

In the end, you would know what you want and how you will get it. To add the icing on the cake, you will be on your way to getting your desire accomplished.

Now, what do you want? And, how will you get it?
