Determination is Requisite for Reaching Your Goals

It may seem obvious that determination is an attractive trait to possess.

Whether big or small, determination is required to accomplish your goals. A first or second attempt is insufficient. When embarking on any goal, it is imperative that you are armed with a good dose of determination. If it takes twenty times or more, keep at it, do it in different ways, seek help, read, try various strategies, do it afraid. The long and short of it, do what it takes for as long as it takes. Most importantly never give up!

Let’s face it, when going after our goals, there are sometimes hurdles that we must overcome. Without determination, we would not reach the finish line. Sometimes, after we get over one hurdle another one presents itself just as participating in steeplechase in the Olympics. The hurdles in steeplechase are planned but those related to our goals are not. Even though they are not planned, the experiences of others coupled with our own have thought us that hurdles will come. Of course, you should always expect the best and while you do, prepare to overcome hurdles should they show up.

Being prepared means equipping yourselves with an unshakable mindset. A mindset that gives you the wherewithal to press on no matter what the situation or circumstance. Everything starts in our mind, including goal attainment. Once you can think it, you can absolutely achieve it. Although hurdles may arise, depending on your mindset, you will overcome to reach your destination successfully.

At times, hurdles may take the form of naysayers. You can always respectfully listen to what others have to say if you choose but take in the positives and ignore the negative. Don’t let the negative comments or words get in your psyche. Fill your mind with thoughts that lead to goal attainment. Surround yourselves with those who would speak a good word to and over you, those who cheer you on, those who are in your corner. You know exactly who those people are – hold them close and cherish them. You need them. They are your cheerleaders on the path of determination to goal attainment.

As you work on your goals, know that you can achieve each of them with determination in your arsenal.
