Laziness is a Sin

My late grandma had many sayings and one of them was "laziness is a sin". First off, she viewed laziness as if you ate dinner and left the dishes in the sink, or if you woke and didn't start cleaning up, or if you didn't bathe the children timely, or if you didn't want to walk and wanted to catch a ride. Yes and the list goes on.

I find myself thinking that laziness is really a sin but from a different though related perspective. In life, I have noticed that some like the benefits of certain things but rarely want to do what it takes to get it. Instead, they want someone else to do it for them or they cry out that they don't know how to get it done. I learned from one of my former bosses years ago, there isn't much that we don't know how to do. This she said when I had to ask my subordinates to perform certain tasks and their responses were that they didn't know how to. She said I should have them see her because if their job depended on it they will figure out how to do it. She was a tough boss and yet everyone loved her. I feel that many tasks in life that folks say they can't do or don't know how to, if their life depended on it, they will get it done or so well and might I add that they may be able to teach others how to as well.

So, while I am not talking about washing dishes or bathing the children, for me it really is about doing what it takes to get what you need without lazing your way out of it. Because, if your life depended on it, you'd get it done. Don't commit the "sin" of laziness.
